You know how it is. Someone asks you "Who was it sang that one that goes ...?"
and it sits in your head until you find the answer.

Well, this one's stuck in my head right now, and I *REALLY NEED* to get it
out.

I'm looking for the band that did 'Something in the air' from probably the
early seventies. I'm pretty sure that's what it's called, and snippetts of
lyrics that we've come up with look like this:

Call out the instigator
Cause there's something in the air
We got to get together sooner or later
Cause the revolution's near
And you know it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together
Now

PLEASE HELP!

Well, I'll do my very best. The song is called "something in the air" and was
written and performed by "Thunderclap Newman" in the late 60's, as far as I know.
There is also a 80's cover-version by Marillion's ex-singer Fish.

Alan:

Here's some help for you. Theres a lyrics search database that will find
key words in a song and is fairly extensive, you just have to know how to
phrase your query--tends to be case sensitive...at

The original was by Thunderclap Newman in the late 60s, but I've a
feeling there has been a recent cover of it but I don't know by whom.

I'm not sure who did the original but Tom Petty sings a version of it on
his Greatest Hits. I think it was in a movie too called The Magic
Christian or something. Hope this helps.

It was a one-hit wonder group produced by Pete Townshend of the Who called
Thunderclap Newman. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers recently covered the
tune on their greatest hits CD
