I took some cassette lessons with him in the early '80s. He had better chops than martino or benson and was playing with Miles Davis. Then I had heard some personal issues got the better of him and I didn't hear from him for about 20 years. He resurfaced in the early 2000s but his playing changed. He was (is) no longer doing the wide interval stuff like he used to back in the '80s. Back then, he had all the wide interval stuff of diorio or gambale but sounded much more legato and smooth.

I'd love to find his book too but his site is no longer up. His book is "Arpeggio/Scale Relationships"

He taught in the East Bay (near San Francisco). I have several friends who studied with him. The only sheet I can recall was 12 tone lines. That is, use all notes of the chromatic scale before repeating any.

Around 93 or so, there was a street fair in an East Bay town with several bands. Dave Creamer was playing with a trio. Guitar, bass, drums. Although the streets were crowded, almost nobody stopped to listen. I recall thinking it was sad.

Dave Creamer still an active jazz guitarist in the Bay Area.

Here is a link to a video clip that he put on youtube a few weeks ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eLotCA9N5U&feature=player_embedded

His Novax guitar sounds great. He is shown playing a restaurant gig in Berkeley.

Here is a link to his website: http://www.davecreamer.com/

Really. But the biker look with the amazingly subtle light touch is
incongruous in the extreme. Lovely playing.

I've got some manuscript scribbling somewhere that someone sent me, but very hard to decipher, it was so heavily marked up from what I can remember.

p.s.

I emailed him, inquiring about lessons and/or purchasing books and never heard back from him. It's actually the 3rd or 4th time I've emailed him with no reply.

He was teaching out of a store called Acme Music in Oakland, not sure if he still does that, but you might be able to get ahold of him through the store.

Just as a followup, I've emailed Dave, contacted his writing partner, and even contacted the store he teaches at leaving messages and inquiries about how to purchase his book but have never heard back from anyone.

Too bad as he is truly an innovator on the instrument.
