don't forget fried bananas on there'll never be another you, and
prince albert on all the things you are, dig on sweet georgia brown,
evidence on just you, just me, donna lee on indiana, quasimodo on
embraceable you - just a few....I'd love to see the whole list, fun
stuff!
SB
Levine has done the work for you. There is a very comprehensive list
in his "Jazz Theory Book"
The word for that is "contrafact".
In the case of Charlie Parker look here:
http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?10653-Charlie-Parker-Contrafacts
I think there's a list of Contrafacts in one of the Abersold books.
Maybe on their site?

People keep writing new ones too. ....joe

Volume 76, How to Learn Tunes, has a long list of contrefacts for rhythm
changes, and a short list of tunes that are other sources of contrefacts
(which is a good list of "must know" tunes).
A question I was about to ask: is there a list of contrefacts for Blues for
Alice, i.e. Parker's blues based on the Confirmation changes?

Hampton Hawes and Sonny Stitt have written some heads on these
changes. I cannot remember the titles right now.
"Fried Bananas" is Dexter Gordon's contrafact on "It Could Happen to
You" (not TWNBAY). You can hear it here:

There IS however a very cool head on TWNBAY by John Scofield called "Not
You Again" on his album "Works for Me"

That is indeed my favorite version of the song (other than Dexter's) -
and a great overall bebop guitar album!
Agreed. You make such a great team with Kenny Barron on that album,
Rick.
Here's a link to an informative Japanese site that details most of the
short musical quotes (contrafactoids?) Charlie Parker worked into his
performances:
