As a first prize recipient of numerous Greek guitar competitions,
Korina Vougiouka astounds audiences around the world with her eloquent
and classical performances on guitar. This exciting young guitarist's
delightful program - Operas and Songs on the Guitar - featuring the
works of Bellini, Giuliani and Schubert as well as the contemporary
Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis - is performed with flair and poise.
Vougiouka has won awards in Germany, France, Italy and Scotland, and
her European chamber and solo recitals in Greece, France, Austria,
Great Britain, Turkey and Germany regularly garner acclaim and praise.
She has recorded for the Greek National Radio and Television, and has
appeared as a guest artist with orchestras in Greece (including the
National Orchestras of Athens and Thessaloniki), Spain (National
Orchestra of Malaga, conductor Phil. Entremont), Germany and Hungary.

Born in 1976 in Kavala, Greece, Vougiouka is a regular prizewinner,
taking first prize at multiple Greek guitar competitions, and at
international competitions, including the International Guitar
Competition in Volos (Greece) and the Competition for Flute, Guitar
and Singing in Koblenz (Germany).
A former student of Oscar Ghiglia, she was a recipient of
scholarships from the Greek Scholarship Foundation and the Onassis
Scholarship Organization. She is now a dedicated PhD student at the
University of Leiden.
