They say he never cursed. They say he didn't drink. They
called him the Rev and they called him the Thumb.
He played jazz in a way that transcended the vocabulary of the guitar. He
was "married with children" as they say and he drove a caddy. Happy birthday
!!

I love Wes' music. It's amazing that even after listening to his
recordings many, many times, I hear new things going on that I didn't
pick up on before. Usually it's an unexpected rhythmic twist, or a
brilliant moment where he burns up the fretboard with a blistering run
when you least expect it. He had that feeling of the unexpected in his
playing and he always had a few surprises up his sleeve. Brilliant.
KRTU is doing a Wes lunch feature every day this week. Two hours of
nonstop Wes. Listen on the web at:

A guitar playing buddy of mine that is from Indiana. He was playing
some of the same clubs that Wes played in (e.g. Hub Hub) He said the
Montgomery Bros.drove to every gig no matter were the gig was. Now am
not 100 % on the amount (he told me this years ago) but whatever it
was it could buy you a brand new caddy in the mid '60s.
