Friends:
I have posted here before about trying to find a long-scale semi-hollow
guitar (like a 335). I recently picked up a Gibson Chet Atkins
Tennessean because I broke the headstock on my Borys. I must say that
this is a very fine and underrated guitar. The neck is full-figured and
has a nut width of 1 3/4", which I like very much. I thought I would be
really turned off by the Batarang shaped pickguard, offset inlays, and
"banjo" armrest, but I think they're kind of cool. I know this guitar
will raise a few eyebrows when I start gigging with it, but so far this
has been a great guitar and will serve me very well.
You might want to check these out, as I think they can be had quite
reasonably since I can't imagine they're one of Gibson's hottest
sellers.

Don't own one but I've played one. It is a fine instrument. I think it may
get overlooked by the Jazz community because the Chet Atkins name maybe
associated too closely with that 50's/60's Nashville sound. But, Chet was a
fine Jazz player too. He a Johnny Smith were close friends and they both
recorded versions of each other's stuff. Smith used to boast about being a
friend of Atkins.

Chet Atkins designed that Gibson guitar, and any guitar he designed was
good.

I wish I could afford one.
