I recently purchased an Evans Eighty amp because I needed something smaller
than my Roland JC-120 to take to gigs. My initial impressions of the amp
was that it had a "spongy" quality to the sound that approximated the sound
of a tube amp, but it also had a mid-heavy tone which I wasn't used to.

When I called the retailer who sold me the amp, he told me that the "body"
control was the equivalent of a mid tone knob, but it doesn't seem to work
that way on my amp. When I roll the "body" knob down to 0, the tone is very
thin, like a cheap, old, transistor amp. When I turn the body up past 7, I
get a lovely springy sound. I am happy with the body up, along with the
expand switch activated, but I would have liked to be able to manipulate the
mids.

The "body" control even has more effect with the Depth switch up.
