If you'll forgive a question, is a 7-string archtop like this designed
with an extra high string or an extra low string in mind? I know one
can string and tune in a variety of ways but I'm curious as to how the
builder imagined it being used - I think one might brace at least a
little bit differently depending on what the "default" tuning would be.
My experiences with "too many strings" instruments include 5-string
electric bass, which has an extra low, 6-string electric bass, which has
one low and one high, and 8-string classical guitar, where both the
extra strings are on the low side. My guess is that the extra string
here plays low and is tuned to a low B but honestly I haven't a clue
which is why I asked.
Thanks.
