I never tried to play in an open tuning before, but I had nothing to do
on Saturday so...
I tried tuning my Soloway to ADADGAD (seven string) and figured out on
old favorite George Harrison tune. A few mistakes where I got
confused... but here it is...

It's the first track. I like the tone I was able to get with the
Soloway...
What do you think?

That's cool Tom, nice sounding geetar. Open tuning can be a blast. I wish
I'd leave a guitar around dedicated to it...and will! This is something I
did awhile ago in a low C tuning that wish I could still remember to play.
It's the only tune I've been able to pull out of that tuning so far. TBC.

That was fantastic! Thanks for posting it!
First, it's always cool for me to hear what other players do with our
guitars, but it was especially interesting to hear a 7-string in open
tuning. I've tried that a couple times and it just got me incredibly
confused, so my comments on that one are great start and I'm impressed
that you were able to get it to hang together so well.
Second, my wife and I just listened to your second version of
Christine's Eyes that you did with your Swan. Very, very pretty. You
really moved my wife andit was wonderful to hear a Swan used to play
such a pretty piece of music
And finally, Amost, that was just a great piece of music. Realy
enjoyable.
That's very nice. So the seventh string is tuned to a C, I perceive.
What're the rest of the strings tuned to? Just an open C major?

Hey thanks Tom, Jim & Sean, appreciate it
didn't mean to mislead ...it's just 6 strings tuned CGDGAD. It's pretty fun.

Jim,
Wow! Thank you so much for your kindness and your words of
encouragement. And thanks to your wife for listening! I'm having a
lot of fun messing around with open tunings, overdrive, tapping, and
all different kinds of approaches to the guitar, after 28 years of
playing it the same way... and I have to say that the Swan is a great
instrument for stretching out into new creative pathways. It's very
accommodating.

I once tuned a baffed out old Yamaha acoustic to an open C and wrote a
song on it. It's my usual dog's breakfast of a song, but I think it
expresses something. If you'd care to endure it, it's at

The song is Hard To Breathe, about the eleventh one down.
My buddy Gary who is playing djimbe and eucalyptus seeds on it also
provided asthmatic wheezing.
