This song is called "Echoes In An Empty Hall". It's an original piece from my recent album. I wrote it several years ago on a 7-string, so it fits well on a down tuned instrument.

The guitar has been dubbed a "Reverse Esqure" by a bunch of Tele fanatics. It's a one pickup Warmoth partscaster with a neck pickup only and a custom bridge that has no opening for a bridge pickup. I keep the guitar permanently tuned to Db, so it's basically a "semi-baritone".

I was playing through a Line 6 Pod HD running an Ampeg Flip Top model through a Deluxe 1x12 "cab". The recording was done direct from the Pod to GarageBand by USB.

Very nice. It sounds perfectly natural. Heavy strings?

Thanks. I don't string anything really heavy. This is setup with GHS Brite Flat 12's on strings 2 to 6 and an GHS Nickel Compound Wound 54 for the low Db. The Nickel Compound is an old trick from my 7-string days. They seem to intonate properly at lower pitch using fairly light strings. The Brite Flat 54 couldn't hold pitch any lower than D bit the Nickel Compound works perfectly at Db.

Hi Jim. Loved the Vid! That vid lead me to the one in which you play Gentle Rain on a partscaster with a 24.75 neck. Was wondering does Warmouth sell that or did you get it elsewhere? (I've got a Tele that I've been thinking about making that adjustment to.) Also, did you find it to be a simple adjust (from a playing POV?)

Thanks,
Russ

Thanks Russ. The bodies and necks for both guitars came from Warmoth. The 24 3/4" conversion neck is a direct replacement that should fit most conventional Tele-type guitars. It was intended as an experiment before we built a batch with our own 24 3/4" scale length and a hollow contoured T shaped body and the experiment was a complete success. It's probably the most comfortable player I've ever owned. Ours will be a bit different in that they are not conversion necks but rather built around the scale length. They'll also have wider finger-style spacing, but the basic concept should work about the same.

BTW, I did a bit of a cosmetic makeover on that guitar. Here's what it looks like now.
