I am borrowing a Koch Twintone and love the sound.
It comes in a head only version. It can switch between
8 and 4 ohms. I am considering getting the head and usinging
my RE Twin 8.

Anyone familiar with the amp -- any thoughs on the head/RE combo.

I am playing a Koch Twintone 1x12 combo (it does come as combo), and I
have been A/B ng through a Raeze'rs Edge Stealth 12. Overall the RE
sounds better, but there is something more "natural" sounding about the
combo with its internal speaker - obviously they're voiced to go
together.

I think someone posted here a while back that RE cabs match better with
solid state heads than tube heads, somethig to do with bass response I
think. I think the Twin 8 is 4 ohms and was specifically designed to
use with a solid state head.

The Koch is an awesome amp, you won't be disappointed with it for jazz.

Thanks,
The amp I am borrowing is a Combo and It does sound great.
I have been finding the solid state Clarus and Mini-brute amps
that I have, very lacking lately.
I may sell the Clarus as I am considering, the Twin 8 would not
be used, therefore the query about the head only.

Any thoughts regarding Koch vs. Carr Rambler.
The Koch seems to have more features, such as recording out, power soak
for headphone use only, dirty channel ...

Hi,
I have the Twintone and use it with an Ibanez GB10. Very versatile amp,
also excellent for jazz. I turn the clean channel to half MID, treble
and bass off, bass on the guitar full. Then I tweak the sound to my
taste with the reverb on the Koch and treble knob on the guitar.
Awesome jazz sound. The Koch als has excellent overdriven sounds.

I love the Koch amp too, Scott. Great for Jazz, although heavy for
toting around.
