volume pedal/wah?

my first pedalboard is finally put together, powered and ready to
go...i still have room for a small pedal (like a boss-size pedal -
maybe a chorus? know any good ones?), and i have room for one
expression type pedal. i'd like to get a volume pedal, but i'm lost as
to what kind to get - looking online, there's mono, stereo, passive,
active, and different #s k or ohms, i don't know what most of that
stuff means...i just want to be able to control volume with the pedal,
and maybe do some swell type effects, etc... i'm playing through an
polytone minibrute iv with my d'angelico nyss, though in the future i
might get an acoustic image or fender reverb or something that can put
out more sound...not sure if any of that matters. so what's a good
volume pedal? what's the difference between all those different
options?

i've also been thinking that i should probably have a wah pedal for
those occasions where i play funk, and people usually want to hear
that - are there any pedals that do both wah and volume? any good ones
that you recommend, if so? and can you switch between volume and wah
function without bending down to switch something?

For a chorus pedal: look for a used Boss CE-2 or CE-3.

Hi Paul, as far is I know it is difficult to find a combined wah vol pedal
that does both things decent.

I have been looking for one for a while, but I still have both on my board:
Wah (BBE) and vol (Ernie Ball).

THe range of a vol pedal is usually much larger than that of a wah, so it
does not really make sense from a handling perspective to combine both. YOu
want a long range for Vol to be able to control the vol well, and you want a
short range for the wah, because typically you are going to move he pedal
while you play (unlike vol).

The short range of the wah will make nice vol swells impossible and vice
versa it's also a problem.

You can look at morley, I think they make some combinations. But I would
def'ny try the wah before you buy.

Active Vol pedals are supposed to "eat" less of the sound when not at full
volume, but I am not dissatisfied with my passive pedal so I am not going to
spend the dough on an active one.

Ernie Ball for volume, but for wah, I can't recommend anything as any
dedicated wahs I've tried played havoc with tone when not in use. Some
have true bypass and aren't supposed to affect tone, but I've not been
pleased by their supposed transparency.
