I have a 1966 Fender Deluxe (no reverb) whose speaker I'm looking to
replace. Right now, it has a relatively new Weber C12N, but I've been
bothered for some time with a hardness in the upper-mids. It's not a
bad speaker - it sounded great with the Tele I used to have, but I'm
playing a Gibson ES-125 (with P-90's) and it's kind of "barky", if you
know what I mean(?).
I have attributed this issue largely to the speaker mostly by trying the
amp with a Jensen C12NA, which noticeably reduced this "bark".
Reading the Guitar Player review on Weber's site regarding 12" Alnicos
has made me interested in the Celestion Blue and the Weber P12B. Has
anyone tried these, particulary with a Fender combo?
Thanks,
Matt

Very pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I have a BFDR and after going through a bout of different speakers
I've been very pleased with an old P12N. It's a vintage one, late
fifites or early sixties. I had it reconed, but it sounds big and
full, very warm and musical. I replaced a vintage C12Q that I found
too brittle and harsh for my taste, especially playing jazz. Good
luck!

I put Celestion Blue's in my Twin Reverb, they sound great.
I chose the Blue's after reading some reviews. The Blue's
are versatile, good all-around speakers.
