Barbara Franklin, a great friend of music, and the Keeper Of The Flame for her Life-Companion, Ted Greene, died yesterday after a long recovery from surgery last month.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. From her book about her life with Ted she
had struggled with her own health concerns (autoimmune disorder) for
years. Rest in peace!

Yeah, but this was unexpected. I just heard from her 2 from her 2 weeks ago, and she was slowly getting over some back surgery. We talked about our relative back problems, and she was in good spirits, but things went downhill all of a sudden. NEVER let a chance to thank someone for what they have done for you go by. NEVER. There are some entries on the FB page coming up now.

James - this is terrible news. Can you explain a bit more what
happened, specifically? I saw he had back pain in July and was going
to get an MRI. So what happened in the last 3 weeks?

She had long-time autoimmune problems, and she told me a couple weeks ago that she was recovering from the surgery more slowly than she or her doctors expected, but she felt she was getting better overall. I don't know more about what happened to so suddenly cause such a precipitous fall in her condition. If I hear more from Leon White, I'll let you know.

Now, I may have gotten it a bit wrong; she had hurt her back and we talked about surgery and treatment back in July, I thought she had had the surgery in July, but now I'm not sure if she had the surgery or not; I did not keep all the correspondence. I'll try to find out exactly what happened.

thanks James. I knew she had some problems with her hands which would
swell on occasion, making it hard to play piano. We corresponded a lot
while I was working on the baroque improv and transcribing Ted's
videos. She was very helpful. I have no idea and I'm speculating the
back pain was a sign of something more serious?

I don't know what happened or that it matters, so I think we should just remember the good she did.
