From a thread here to Shirley Bailey's web site, I decided to give bronze
strings ( D'addario coated EXP-16 series .053-.012) a try on the GB-10. If
you are looking for a slightly more acoustic sound , then this is a nice way
to go.I substituted the B for a .018 and the E for a .014, and prefer the
touch with this set up. You lose a little in overall volume , but there is a
bit more clarity now.and the tone seems to be a bit smoother/ rounder. The
coating doesn't detract and touch wise helps make the string a tad
smoother.I can still get a lot of brightness when both p/u or the rear p/u
is on. The previous strings were flatwounds and gave more of the "thud" type
of response in the bass strings. Anyone else using bronze strings like this
with good results ?

Are the EXP-16s noisy to touch both on the fret recoil and slides?

If your'e used to using flats then its going to feel a little rough,
the coated strings are smoother than normal bronze that I have played
on,there supposed to last longer too if you believe the adverts.
I personally don't notice any problems with finger noise, but I use a
pretty light touch.
