I'm glad someone mentioned Vinnie and that he's alive and well. I had
one encounter with him on a bandstand 20 years and change ago. I was
working a one-nighter at the Cornerstone in Metuchen, NJ with the late
Kenny Davern. Vinnie, a Jerseyite, came to hang. He sat in with us and
swung his ass off, and with taste and musicality to spare. I was like,
wow, I never heard of this MF. We had a great time and Vinnie was a
gentlemen and good cat when we spoke in-between. Kenny let me leave
early to make a train back to the city, so Vinnie took my chair. When
I left they were spanking the s^&t out of Joshua Fit the Battle of
Jericho.

ok, i give up on you guys. obviously my word about a guy being good enough
to be confused with martino *and* the free record are not enough to generate
any kind of reaction.

D'Oh
OK, I d/l and am listening. I dunno Holger: he's a fine player to be sure, but
not nearly as strong a right hand as Martino to my ears. I hear as much
Grant Green as Martino. "Wade in the water" is smoking.
