of Bireli's playing, I was a little put off by the fact that he seemed
so unhappy to be there. Maybe it's just my imagination, but he came
off as very aloof and almost disrespectful towards Luc, who, by the
way, played some really interesting and energetic things, including
very cool 'bass' solos on guitar. Is he always like this? I remember
Steve Khan introducing me to him years ago and he seemed okay then.

If it's the same video I have, he looks at Luc with admiration. He
obviously admires Luc's playing. Also take a look at the stuff with
Luc on the Gypsy Project and Friends DVD. He smiles at Mr. Luc like
Luc is his brother. Strange.
And Bireli would never look down on Luc's playing, since it is amazing.

Yes, Sylvain Luc is always like this! I saw him in Paris playing in a
club with the belgian guitarist Philip Catherine : it was fantastic. He
is really a genious with a great fingerpicking style!

He is also top-notch with a plectrum. Overall a real virtuoso.

Bireli. He just appeared to be very bored. I don't really believe he
was disrespecting Luc, but it came off that way. Maybe he was having a
bad night. Luc is a wonderful and fun player.
