I've got your typical 80s style ax--Strat shape, S-S-H pups,
Floyd Rose--that needs frets. I don't play it much these
days, but I'd like to have it available. I could spend $300
on a re-fret, but that's kind of a lot to spend for a guitar
I'll use only occasionally. I've seen Mighty Mite necks on
eBay for $110-$150, routed for the Floyd nut.

I wonder if anyone knows anything about Mighty Mite's
quality these days.

Here's and example: http://tinyurl.com/285uu5

Thanks.

I've heard that their quality has improved and they are a respectable
neck these days, but I have no personal experience. I would expect to
dress the frets on any new neck I installed anyway.

Another good neck is an 'All Parts' neck.
There are many on ebay and some have Fender decals on them.
I played a 72 with a Mighty Mite neck and it played like it should.
Most that I have seen are going for $200 or so.

I've heard good things about their necks (and their humbucking pickups
too).
But I had a bad experience with one of their bodies once. As I recall,
The neck pocket wasn't cut properly for a Fender neck I owned. I.e. The
stock Fender neck would have required modification (I forget exactly
how) in order for it to be installed properly on the MM body.

You couldn't return it? You said they were jumbo when you sold it?

These are supposed to be drop-in replacements for Fenders.
And though mine isn't a Fender, I'm pretty sure it's
Fender-compatible. Fortunately the seller lists the
dimensions so I can verify before buying. Also, I'll check
w/ my tech before making any moves.

Those necks are usually advertised as having medium jumbo frets, like
USA Standard Fender necks, not jumbo, aren't they?
