2 things I haven't figured out yet are:
1) What's a "combo amp"? Probably a type of guitar amp, but what type?
2) What's "comping"? A type of accompanyment?
As you've probably guessed, Arrgh is not my real name. Just trying to avoid
spam...

Am amplifier and speaker all houed in the same cabinet as opposed to the
amplifier being a separate unit from the speaker cabinet.

I've heard "Comping" to mean ac"comp"animent or "comp"lementing. In any
case, it means to accompany the soloist. Could be as easy as strumming
chords, but the best compers I've heard, make comping as much of an art as
soloing itself.

Amplifier and speaker cabinet in one housing.

Comping *is* an abbreviated word for "accompaniment".

Using a false name won't hang spammers up. It's only the address that
matters.

First they gerrymander us into one-party fiefs. Then they tell us they only
care about the swing districts. Then they complain about voter apathy.

It's an amp with both the amp/preamp and the speaker(s) mounted in a
single cabinet.

Comping is chordal accompaniment backing up a singer or melody
instrument.

As for spammers, I get a different address every time I connect. But I
already have tons of spam anyway. People with brand-new email accounts start
getting spam within minutes.

An amp with the speaker and electronics in the same cabinet as opposed
to a head + a cab.

Right. To "comp" is to accompany someone else, usually with chording.

It's a great handle, especially the last name.

Another thing to note: of course you can never have too many combo amps.
Heads and cabinets are another story. Why? The former need is much
easier to explain to spouses and significant others than adding in the
whole "head and cabinet" complexity. In the end, more gear will likely
be given the go ahead if it's combos you're talking about :-)
Also, it is absolutly dead impossible, unless your one of the jazz gods,
to comp to everyone's liking. Someone somewhere will always think your
comping wasn't sensitive enough, or was inappropriate, or wasn't really
locked into the tempo. Usually these are professional critics.
As far as SPAM, the one-word answer is Macs. Making your life and your
computer use easier and happier, in addition to having a trainable SPAM
filter built right into the system mail program. Works like a charm.
I concur with others: definitely stick with Arrghowitz.

You can never get too much head.
Singly or in combo. On the cabinet or
on the floor. Head is a good thing.

No, he's talking about the address above. And putting spamoff, nospam, or
other simple stuff in your address to munge it doesn't work very well any
more. Anybody can write code to defeat that, and spammers are getting
smarter as spam filters get more effective. Your email address is in lots
of spam lists as soon as you post it here, and you have posted it, even
with the spamoff in it. Won't help. You don't get a new email address
every time you connect.
