Will anyone learn the name of a wonderful alto saxophonist
who was co-starring with Monk in "Round About Midnight"
of Seronias Monk put on the market by the Fontana label
in around 1970. I who was the high school student was
charmed to the improvisation of the alto saxophone every day.
I want to hear it again by all means.
My best regards.

If you mean Thelonius Monk, he played with saxoponist Charlie Rouse in
the 60s until Monk stopped playing in the early 70s. That's probably
who you mean; Rouse's playing is absolutely lovely. He pairs very well
with Monk. All of the Monk Columbia albums have Rouse on them.

But if your talking about Seronias Monk??? I dunno...

I second that. Charlie Rouse is great to listen to and did a good job
playing with Monk. Gama.

The British Fontana label? My guess is that would have been a reissue of
an LP originally put out on a US label. I can only suggest the original
poster looks at Monk's discography on www.allmusic.com.

Someone suggested Charlie Rouse, but AFAIK he was a tenor player.

Thank you.
Charlie Rouse. It is so. I recalled it.
It was not an alto saxophone but it was a tenor saxophone.
In a very melodious improvisation
It heard it until the?record was almost worn out every day.
CD that that performance of Rouse enters is not found though it looks
for CD of Thelonius Monk at the "Round About Midnight"now.
I want to hear after an interval of 30 years ???.
