Ok, first a confession...picked up an 81 ES-175D last week...it's very nice! However, the Tweed case (Canadian Made) has no handle and only one remnant that a handle was ever attached. Talk about taking something for granted!

Anyone here have any experience replacing the handle AND hardware on a case?

In lieu of that, should I just take it to a luggage repair shop?
Buy the handle and hardware, then take it to luggage repair?

Good handle recommendations? There seems to be 1 guy on eBay that has cornered the mkt on parts.

Thanks, I know you guys (gals) can help me handle this so I don't pay more for the handle than the case is worth.

Yup,
Luggage repair shop.

My old Gig bag zipper was shot after years of various size guitars
being forced into it.
Took it to a luggage shop, they put a new slider on the existing
Zipper and all's well, not very costly either.

Saved my wife's leather coat for like $10 to.

I have replaced a few, its very simple, buy a case handle that matches the case Pull the case's internal lining back, drill holes that match the handle bolt hole spacings and fit the handle with the bolts supplied.

Thanks.

The handle I ordered is nice, but it's rivets and I'm still unclear as to what holds the rivet from inside the case...Do I use the existing holes or drill new ones? Fill the old ones, then drill to get same spacing as original handle?

When you say "bolts" do you mean rivets or something else? I saw 'screw type' for hinges, but handle was not pre attached...the handle I bought is already in the hinge, just have to get those hinges to line up correctly on the case.

When I finally see it all together I should be ok...

Post a link to the type you have ordered.

That is the same handle type as I have fitted, but I used bolts and not rivets.

Obviously, the holes have to line up with handles holes or you will need to drill some new holes.
