I'm trying to assemble a more complete Hank Garland discography, and I know
I'm missing a lot. Can anyone help me fill in the gaps?

Jazz Recordings:

Jazz Winds From A New Direction (Columbia 1960?) with Burton, Morello
Jazz In New York, The Guitar Artistry of Hank Garland (Unknown label, date
and sidemen?)
After The Riot At Newport-- The Nashville All-Stars (Bear Family Label,
year?) Burton, Boots Randolph

Country Recordings:

The SugarFooters

Sorry, but I think missed a posting last week that seems to have had some
good info on this subject. Please resend. Thanks very much.

"Jazz Winds" was recorded in Nashville.

The Guitar Artistry of Hank Garland (Unknown label, date

This record is called " Velvet Guitar". It is on the Harmony label (a
subsidiary of Columbia) HL 7231, The drummer and bassist are not
listed. Garland did not like this recording and vowed that if he got
a chance to record again for Columbia that his next LP would be a REAL
jazz date. It was. "Jazz Winds" was the next and final jazz
recording for him on Columbia. If you have ever heard the Harold
Bradly recordings on Columbia, they are an exact extension of this
"Velvet Guitar" recording. Nice chord melody style approach to very
familiar tunes. Same tone etc. Bill

I received this list via email, which apparantly showed up on RMMGJ a while
back:

Garland,Hank "Jazz winds in a new direction"
Garland,Hank "After the riot at Newport"
Garland,Hank "Home recordings 1975"
Garland,Hank "Jazz in New York"
Garland,Hank Paul,Les Martin,Grady "Guitar genius"
Garland,Hank "Visit with"
Garland,Hank "Unforgettable guitar"
Garland,Hank "Velvet guitar"

Thanks to all who replied. Now I'll try to find some of these obscure
recordings.

By the way, does anyone know the name of the Hank Garland/Red Norvo
recording(s)? Was it under Red's name?
