Anyone know any good guitar stores in Berlin? I've just moved here
for the year and need a dependable well stocked place for strings,
picks etc.
thanks,
Welcome to Berlin Jon!
You will love the jazz scene in Berlin but unfortunately the shops
("Musikhaus") are scarce and not the best place to buy nice
instruments or very special things. But if you want a typical Guitar
Center-styled shop I've found that "Sound&Drumland" in Prenzlauerberg
is the largest one with little more variety (http://www.justmusic.de/
local/berlin-1.html) You will find there your .12 (if your lucky even .
13) D'ddarios flatwounds and your Dunlop jazz picks. Don't expect
Thomastic Infield or one of those $25 specialized ebony-carved gypsy
picks though.
I'm kind of sad that, after 4 years, I'm moving out from Berlin, I
will miss it. Hope you the best and enjoy it!
Carlos ..
I'm enjoying your samples in your website! some concert in town soon??
best,
C.
and I remember also coming across a smallish shop near the centre
which specialized in German guitars- lots of Hofner and other old
archtops.

Hi Jon,
I like the American Guitar Shop in Charlottenburg for the usual stuff.
For repairs go to the Guitar Doc in Kreuzberg: http://www.guitardoc.de/
He has got a good reputation and is super nice. For classical guitar
issues I'd recommend Wolf & Lehmann in Mitte: http://www.wolflehmanngitarren.de/
Hope you like Berlin, it's a good place for jazz.
Greetings
