Tony is alive and well and living outside of New York. I fine guitarist and
great musician. See if you can find some old Command" records. YOu will hear
the cleanest guitar playing ever.

I know a little about Tony.He must be in his 70's now. I used to hear him play
on the radio back in the 1940's.He was a staff guitarist on NBC. He wrote
background music for a TV program called Danger and did it solo guitar. They
have written about him in Just Jazz Guitar Magazine.. He does have some records
out but you will have to look for them.If you need additional info please
contact me. Arnie L.

up guitar later, unfortunately, it was to play folk and rock. took me a long
time to get back to what I originally loved.

I'd love to find out about some recordings with Tony.

When I was in high school ('70s), I used to get goofed on unmercifully
by my friends because I listened to, and appreciated, Tony Mattola.
This was in the Jimmy Page, Robin Trower era. My tastes at the time
were more towards Martino, Coryell, Burrell and Pass. They could
almost accept it when I put on one of those LPs, but Mattola, no way,
or Johnny Smith either!

Ha! I was right then and I'm still right. Those guys could sure play
some fine 'clean' guitar! Unfortunately, the LPs are long gone. :(

Try searching on Command record label or "Enoch Light" sp?
I think there is a web page dedicated to Enoch which apparently Tony
played with or recorded under.
