Thanks for that. I'm liking Anthony Wilson more and more.
Yeah, East of the Sun's a great solo, I especially love his Octave
stuff just toward the end of it, he's really comfortable with that,
and everything really.
Me too. He's quite a talent: guitarist, arranger, composer. And he
seems to be really nice and personable guy.

He does the alternate thing going back and forth between 1-3 fingers
and 2-4 fingers. I've never felt comfortable with that, preferring
instead to go with the forearm-intensive locked-hand approach.

I'm in.
Anthony Wilson is fabulous on that whole DVD - his solo on "All Or Nothing
At All" might be one of my favorite solos of all time and one of 2 or 3 that
I've ever felt the need to completely transcribe. He also has my favorite
jazz guitar tone these days (vintage Byrdland through a vintage blackface
Fender tube amp or more recently a Clark) although I'm not as taken with the
sound he gets on his Monteleone archtop.
He's also a great guy - I once ran into him in an elevator and he was truly
appreciative that I had his early solo stuff. We talked for quite a while
and he was gracious, informative and gave as much time as I wanted even
though he was in a hurry to leave. Interestingly, he's also a culinary and
wine expert.
Yup I prefer his Byrdland sound as well.

http://www.emusic.com/artist/11668/11668751.html I've got "Goat Hill
Junket" and at first the guitar just went right by me, but now it's all
I hear. FWIW
Yeah, I've been talking about him here in the group.
Btw, I really recommend his CD "Savivity". Nice compositions and a
nice version
to "All the Things...".
And, yeah, he is really nice and personable guy. I had a chance to
talk a little with him before Diana Krall's show here in Porto Alegre.
He is about to release a new CD with the briliant Brazilian new
composer
and guitarist Chico Pinheiro. I'm looking forward to hear it.
