I'm looking for a transcription of Sonny Rollins' "Blue Seven" solo.
Does anyone have
- a transcription or
- a link to one or
- the name of a book where it can be found
to post?

I know that there are lots of people who have transcribed this solo or
parts of it. I could do it myself, I know, but it would take a lot of
time - and time is exactly what I don't have...

Thanks in advance,
Tomas Karlsson

It's in Scott Reeves' Creative Jazz Improvisation.

Is that
- the solo from "Saxophone Colossus" and
- the whole solo?
I guess I'll have to order that book then. Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Yes.

I think so: there are five choruses.

It's an excellent book, with transcriptions of lots of seminal solos -
plus all the basic theory, and a few sample patterns for each type of
harmony. For someone with enough self-discipline (you're expected to
develop your own patterns as well) it could be a Teach Yourself Jazz
Improv!

OK, sounds good. I just ordered the book.

Thanks again,
