I'm looking for a tremolo effect in a pedal, like on the old Fender amps.
I'm not looking for a chorus, but a tremolo...is that even possible in a
pedal? Does Danelectro have anything like that? What's the Dan-Echo all
about? Many thanks.

If you have a pedal, usually multi effects, with auto-panner, when
this is set to mono (ie one side of the auto-pan) you should get the
effect of the volume going from low to high depending on how extreme
the pan is. The Yamaha REX50 has it but it's a semi-vintage unit now.
The Zoom 1201 unit has a 'trm-pan' setting which I think will do it
(plus it has other stuff included).

Boss makes a tremolo pedal but it does not sound like a Fender amp. The
Fender amps have a tube driven analog tremolo circuit where most pedals are
digital.
The Dan-echo is a digital delay pedal. It can do repeats, echos and
reverbs but it does not do tremolo. The Dan-Echo is one of the few digital
pedals that I will use because it has a high cut switch that will sound
close to an analog or tape delay. I have a Fender tube amp and I love the
sound of the tremolo in it. It can't be duplicated by a pedal.

Patrick-

There are several models and price ponts. You might like the Jim Dunlop
Tremolo or the VooDoo Labs version, since they are generally considered
to be "Fendery".

I use the Boss, (having owned the Dunlop and a Diaz Tremodillo) and no
one has complained that "the band was great, except for the non-Fendery
tremolo pedal"! ;)

Try the reviews at Harmony Central to get more opinions about most
available models http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/
