Cant explain why but I bought a new, discontinued Vox Modeling amp
with a 10" Celestion speaker from MF for $169.00, model VT30.

This thing has 22 watts of power and many amp models, a boatload of
editable effects combinations, a really decent reverb and a knob in
back that reduces the output wattage without changing the sound, and
lights up like a Christmas tree with program banks... It also has an
Ax7 preamp tube that supposedly acts as 2 AX7s...
Im impressed, I'm used to my 2 knob Pro Jr.!

I gotta say, for rehearsals, practice and overall ampiness, this thing
is really cool and sounds very good with my archtops as well as my
telecaster at studio volumes.

It's got a boutique model setting that is very very good for low level
clean.

Anyone else try/have one of these things?

jm, slowly losing model amp bias.

I think modelling amps are now more like real amps, in that some sound good
and some don't. There are probably good and less good designers (and makers)
of all amps and the only way to tell is to try them. I'm still wary of the
guy in the shop firing up his favourite amp though, so If I try a guitar I
ask to try a particular amp, then choose the guitar that I was interested in
all along.
