polytone

Question: why is it so hard to find Polytone dealers? Hardly any of
online sellers of all-things-jazz-guitar sell them (J Hale, Legato,
etc, 12th Fret now just sells one model). Are the people at Polytone
that hard to deal with it?

That's a good question. With such an excellent product line you might think

Do not get 15" one - unless you play 7 or 8 string -
it gets incredibly boomy at loud volumes. I sold my PT
and got Evans.

That's probably either a Mini Brute with the 12" or a Mega Brute.
Difficult to tell by the size. That's some freakin' AMAZING playng!

Actually, if I were to guess, I'd say that it looks like a 12" speaker
by the size of the cabinet. That would make it a Mini Brute II, I
think.

Yes playing is nice. I was only saying 15" PT MiniBrute IV (?) that
I bought for $300 few years was boomy at any volume required to play
with others and I eventually sold it. I like the Evans that I have now
-
with 10" it is brighter but it takes a bit less time to dial sound you
like.
Also I think that PT tends to "hide" attack - took me a while to
adjust my
technique to Evans. I usually run Evans with RC Booster in front of
it.
If I had 12" PT I would probably kept it but opportunity to buy cheap
Evans
came along and I knew I did not like 15" PT so I let it go.
