Interesting that this occurred in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Oscar
Pettiford was from there, and Lester Young's family was based there
for a while.
Although RB has stated that CC is totally irrelevant to jazz players
of today, is that session available on a recording?
I heard an interview a few years back with Jerry Jerome on NPR, and as
of then, he was still playing.
For those of a more literary bent, there are some great essays by
Ralph Ellison ("Invisible Man") on growing up with CC in Oklahoma.
Listening to Charlie is essential as far as I'm concerned. 'Swing to
Bop' would be a desert-island disc for me!
That session looks hard to find under CC's name, though I recently
managed to find a secondhand copy of the Proper box set which I think
has these tracks. But a quick search suggests you can get them on
this Jerry Jerome CD:

Correct, he was recorded with Jerry Jerome by Jerome Newhouse, not
Jerry Newman.
Just how many Jerries did it take to make a live recording in those
days?

I heard there's a recording with all players named Jerry called Jerrys
Jubilee.
And here is the track referred therein:

Shake it up now, Sugaree
I'll see you at the jubilee
And if that jubilee don't come
Maybe I'll see you on the run...
