I would also consider the similar Washburn, which is in the same price
category. Yamaha makes an interesting ES-175 copy that replaces the bridge
pickup with a piezo pickup ala the Ovation style acoustics. I've played this
and it sounds great, in part due to the floating neck PU. I believe this axe
costs a few $100 more than the Epiphone, Ibanez or Washburn.

I think this is called the AE1500 (whatever happened to names for guitars ?) which is a
guitar designed to Martin Taylor's specifications (who had a new album out yesterday
btw). Nice guitar, nicely made, well thought out, and basically a good tool.
