I purchased and just receive a CD, "John Collins: Great Guitar Sidemen
Vol. 3" and for me it is golden. As some of you may know, John Collins
was one of the greats, playing with Art Tatum, Roy Eldridge, Ella
Fitzgerald, Bobby Troup, and Nat King Cole (to name a few). I studied
with John in the early 70s. I already have what I thought was his only
recording as a leader. Finding this CD was great.
Lots of "obscure" stuff like CDs from George Barnes, Don Arnone, Oscar
Aleman, Karl Kress, Billy Baur, Al Hendrickson. Also, some
instructional stuff by Joe Pass and Barney Kessel.
The downside is the cost. My John Collins CD came to $38 with US
dollar conversion and shipping--for me it was worth it.
I have no interest in the company or the people in the company. I am
not vouching for them. It is always a risk to buy from foreign
companies. I just thought some of you might find website interesting.

Why is it always a risk to buy from foreign companies? I'm an
Australian and buy from US companies all the time...:)
Jon
Hey Jon, you're proving his point! (dont forget Foreign=non-US)

Jon, Sorry--no disrespect meant or intended. As my post indicated, I
am very happy with my transaction and was letting others know about
this great source of recorded music. Perhaps my disclaimer was
unwarranted in this case. I apologize for any offense. Best wishes,
Ron
I knew Bruce, being that I'm a Hawaiian Steel guitarist and we enjoyed
some correspondence. I purchased quite a few of the Hawaiian CDs he
released. Unfortunately, Bruce passed last year. I believe his son,
who also did much of the engineering, is running things now. Yes,
they are costly; yes, much of the material is hard to come by.
Thanks for the news, Ron. The last time I exchanged chatter with Bruce
he was very excited about finishing the John Collins collection. I'll
have to pick it up posthaste!

Yeah. That's the reason when I buy from Bruce I buy 4 or 5 cd's at a
time. It cuts down on some of the shipping costs.

I've had no difficulties with foreign purchases: Australia, Britain,
France, Brazil and I think I did one once from Germany many years ago.
One has to be prudent, of course. Keep your eyes open, and I would be
wary of direct purchases from Nigeria, China, and a number of others in
the 3rd world.
