i've had it for 24 hours now. until i put new strings on it ,dadarrio chromes,
i was just impressed. but after i removed the shite strings, with which
gibson ships guitars, and played it with chromes, i am ecstatic. havn't
weighed it but this guitar could not weigh over 7 lbs. it has sustain like a
les paul, a hollow sound comparable to a casino or 330, and is ultra quiet.
guitar fit and finish is flawless and the flametop is incredible. no feedback
problems...and tone tone tone. [way too much dough though]

Congrats indeed -- that's one flat-out amazing, do-anything guitar.
Big time. I've been waffling about one for, well, since they came
out.

yeah, this guitar is without a doubt the most versatile i've ever owned. i am
amazed at how well it does, with each new setting i discover. articulates,
projects much like an archtop, bell-like tone, on and on sustain, light
weight, yet so sturdy, much more low end than a reg 335. can get a p90 ring as
well as the warmth of a humbucker....sorry i'm gushing so much. it reminds me
of how i felt the first few months driving my new mini-cooper. i could just
not believe how well both products delivered on the promises made by the
advertising. it was quite the leap of faith, as the price is quite steep and
i'm just a working class zero. i mean hero. however i have found that if you do
like a new gibson model it is best to buy it during its initial run, as it just
becomes more costly down the road. pretty cool to see the step by step build
process photos, at the gibson site. thanks for the feedback and thank you to
all our amazingly brave men and woman who are putting their lives on the line,
so we may strum in peace.

I once had an ES-336 that I wish I'd kept. I didn't like it until I had
a fret level and pickup swap, but after that it was a great guitar.

I'd love to try a CS-336, but at nearly $5K list...well, I'll just keep
hitting on this Strat I've got here.

Speaking of the list price, I was very surprised to see such rinky-dink
tuners on it.

Gibson's got a good idea with the 336 body size, though. The ES-336 was
a very, very comfortable guitar to wear and play--and the neck was fast.

Nicely said.
