hey all- so i didn't even really know what a fuse was or that my amp
had one until i somehow lost it a couple of days ago - i scoured the
building my amp was in looking for it, but no luck...so now what? i'm
not sure exactly when the amp was made, but it's an older polytone
minibrute iv, probably from the 80s or something. looks like this
(though not sure it's exactly the same): http://www.loncohen.com/pix/87polytoneminibruteiv.html

is there a way i can get a replacement fuse that will work with the
amp? how do i find one?

thanks-
PC

Did the fuse fall out along with the Cap that holds it in place?

I thinks it's a 2 amp fuse, but I can't remember and my amp is at my
Dud's place so I can't take a look.

You can probably google polyton and find the Website and phone number.

It's a pretty standard fuse and cap holder, but you need to find out
the Amperage.

If you lost the fuse, you probably lost the cap too? They all "look"
pretty much the same, but every manufacturer's fuse socket/cap are a
little different, so you probably need to replace the whole thing,
socket and all.

It's not a big deal though, and if you're comfortable with soldering,
you can EASILY do it yourself (I had to do this repair myself on my
Mini-Brute II when somebody broke mine off).

Just get a 2A fuse socket at Radio Shack and put it up on the bench.
It's pretty self explanatory. You'll figure it out.

Someone ought to mention that it's not only looks, it's the rating that
matters, and if the fuse is rated for too high a load, your amp will
blow out before the fuse does. I'm sure you know this, just want to
make sure anyone reading along does, too.

UPDATE:

turns out my one of my guitar classmates found my fuse on the floor
near my guitar locker the night it went missing (which was the night
before i realized it was missing)...so that's a relief..
