off the topic, but.... since there has been a long a dialogue between
jazz and brazilian music....

Brazil rules football (soccer in the US), the most popular sport
in the world !!!!

We are the champions again !!! Japan/Korea 2002 World Cup !!!

Seven matches, seven victories !

God save Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo.....

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Cheers,
JP

Actually Jose Formula One racing is the largest spectator
sport in the world, & on an average there are 300 million
folks watching each race worldwide.
A final tidbit, an F1Car can cost from 10 to 100 $million
each.. I'm the "plethora King of useless knowledge" just
ask anyone here....hahaha :) Now that is a lot of Bennys,
aint it? Congrads on your win tho'.. thom_j.

...but watching football is a lot more interesting than watching F1
(although Finland wasn't/has never been in world cup and there's two finnish
drivers in F1). There's something very beautiful in brazilian football

Nothing wrong with your valued opinion, Vilppu. You prefer football
aka soccer but others perfer F1 as I do.. Thats what makes the world
go round. :) It is astounding that 300 mill will watch a race worldwide
tho'... Dont ya think? cheers thom_j.

Just something I read the other day:

To the Sports Editor:

How can over two billion people all over the world be wrong in their love
for soccer? As opposed to 300 million Americans (assuming every man, woman
and child is included) who are American football or baseball fans?

Can Ira Berkow explain why the baseball games are known as the World Series?
What world? Whose world? Soccer should be known as the World Series! Berkow
criticizes soccer players for the big deal they make when they score a goal,
removing their shirts and hugging with joy. How about American football
players, who after they score a touchdown, start strutting in a duckwalk,
acting like roosters? And splashing each other with Gatorade? Berkow finds
grace in baseball? What grace? When a pitcher adjusts his cap, grabs and
scratches his groin and spits black tar all the time, while the batter is
fiddling incessantly with his gloves to heighten the so-called suspense?

Soccer is as much a matter of life and death all over the world, as football
and baseball are here, but more justifiably so, because of the beauty and
simplicity of the game.

yes, it's astounding. And I got to admit that it was great when Mika
Häkkinen won the F1 championship couple years ago ;)

Yea Mika is a fantastic racer but it seems like this year he has
got a bit of a "black cloud" hanging over his cabeza` but time
will bring him back or he can always flatten Michael's tyres. :)
Ok sorry rmmgj, yes I went *way* OT..
cheers Vroom Vroom thom_j.

Thanks for the info, although I'm not totally sure we can consider
Formula 1 as a sport (please, remember last Zeltweg GP,
when Barichello got a command from the boxes
to let Shummy win the race).
Anyway, we love racing in Brazil too, and brazilian
pilots won the F1 championship 8 times: Senna won 3 times,
Piquet won 3 times and Fittipaldi 2.
Also, we have Helio Castro Neves, who just won for
the second time consecutive the 500 Miles of Indianapolis.

Cheers,
JP

I watch/play alot of sports, including football, rugby, volleyball,
basketball, swimming, F1 (watch, not play, obviously!!) etc etc, you
get the idea.

If i have to pick only 1 sport that i can watch/play for the rest of
my life, it will be football, hands down. watching brazil play (at
their best) is like poetry in motion. and if you get bored (why would
you?) there's always the scantily clad supporters in the stands,
dancing up a storm.

btw, what is the story with all the hairdo this WC?? mohican seem to
be in, not a single black haired player in the japanese 1st squad (!),
and dont even get me started about that patch of hair on ronaldo's
forehead.. already i see kids on the street with that hedious DIY
cut.. UGH!!

a side note: a (decent/good) pro football player can earn anywhere
from 30-60k pounds PER WEEK!! i'm not talking about elite players (eg
ronaldo, del piero etc etc - they prob take in a 6-figure sum per
week, BEFORE endorsements). have to say, not a bad sum to be bringing
home.

another side note: Senna was a helluva driver till his unfortunate
death. damon hill has come and gone, villeneuve (sp?)is driving a
sub-par car, mika - doubt he will come back? or be taken back, with
kimi doing so well. so the biggest danger to schummy/ferrari's crown
would be the williams pairing, methinks. maybe arrows or minardi will
make a LATE push for the constructors title :)

ok, rant over, back to work.

Nice post, kk !
Regarding Ronaldo's hair cut, I also have seen many kids using
that ridiculous patch of hair.
The kids see Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, etc... as heros,
so I believe if someday they decide cut their hairs like Mickey Mouse,
that will be considered "cool" the next day. :-)
