As you might tell from the two guitars I've mentioned, I come from an
electric guitar background and the slim body, narrower neck nylon
string designs are more appealing to me than the traditional design. I
plan on playing the guitar in mainly an amplified environment. My
style of playing includes some fingerstyle as well as standard picking.
Any feedback is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Randy

Hmm... Strange choice of words when dealing with this inquiry.

so the neck should be a bit wider, I just don't like the feel of the
standard 2" nut.
The Yamaha APX6na has about 1 7/8", I think. I've come to the
conclusion I want 1 3/4", which is also a width a number of
steel string flattop pickers like. IT's also the size of the
Yamaha AEX 1500 Martin Taylor model, which I have,
and I like the feel a lot.
I have found a new Ibanez called the GA5tc.. (sp?). It's
pretty reasonable, but I haven't found a local store that stockes them.
BTW, if you ask me... any piezo equipped guitar will have more
feedback than a magnetic pickup, because the pickup senses
vibrations in the body of the guitar, which is excited by the strings.
So the speaker can do the same thing. Conversely, a mag pickup
gets the vibes right from the strings, only a fraction of an inch away.
But you might have to get the guitar right in front of the speaker
in just the right way. Also, some guitars might have some kind
of feedback surpressing electronics. If the amp treble is toned
down that should help, because piezo's 'squeal' more than 'howl'.
I mostly want mine for home use, but it would be good to have
the pickup in case I want to use it out, and I definitely want a
slim neck and cutaway.
