Charlie
Not a bad singer. He's got kind of a Hibbler/Eckstine thing going on.
It's all great Charlie, except the 40's vibe is marrred by the
appearance of the electric keyboard, it should have stayed out of
sight.
It snounds fine, and You sound Great.
Bg
I dug it! Some sweet playing, Charlie.
Hey Charlie,
Wonderful solo.
Dom
What are you, the disembodied guitarist? Heck, you didn't even come in
to the vid until 2:40, but you played nearly a 2minute solo. Was the
you smoking at 2:10? What was with the smoke anyway? I loved the music
part you played, btw - very complementary and smooth.
Greg
WTF? They had electricity in the 40's, didn't they? :)-
...Nice, tasteful solo, Charlie. Slow tempos can be a real challenge
sometimes. You did a good job.
Yeah, I kind of liked that too which is why I posted. There is another one
that we did with just guitar and vocal, if anything turned out I'll put it
up--thanks-- Charlie
Thanks Bg!
Charlie
As you can see I'm too young to answer that..... Charlie
Thanks Tom!
Charlie
Thank you Dom.............Charlie
All of the things that are done for that broadcast are usually one take no
rehearsal types of deals. Although I had played behind Emile at some jam
sessions we had never worked together. On that day there if I remember it
right there was only one cameraman so the band had to be divided that way to
get everyone in the feature.
The smoke I've never quite figured out, I think that it has something to do
with smoothing out the background. Given those circumstances I think that
many of them turn out pretty good. Thanks for the compliment:) Charlie
Great sound and beautiful solo!
Thanks man, you are right at times it's harder to play at slow tempos than
fast.
Charlie
Thanks Dan!

Very smooth solo and I just love your guitar tone!!
Neil
I really like the sound, and the feel of that very much. It seemed
that in the first 2 minutes, though, the piano especially, and a few
times, the guitar seemed a bit too loud and distracted a bit from the
vocals; it may be just how it was recorded, I don't know. He is a nice
singer, kinda Johnny Hartman vibe too.
Neil
Many thanks Neil. That was an ES 175 (2005) running through a Henriksen
10-R.
Charlie
Thanks Mr.Will. I liked the video that you posted recently. There was no
conspiracy check out my mug and you will probably discern the truth of the
situation for yourself--Charlie
It was the way that it was recorded. in the studio all of us including the
piano player were complaining that we couldn't hear the piano.
Charlie
Ha! One take video! That makes the camera guy a "jazz player" of
sorts, doesn't it? :)

I wish there was an alternative to youtube- corporate net nanny
forbids access.
Whew! That's a relief, as in your other clips with these guys, I was
always struck by how supportive everyone seemed of each other, then
this one just had an odd mix; I knew it wasn't YOU.
Thanks Dick...........Charlie
His name is Mike Blackburn and he is down here from Detroit. We have played
together on a lot of gigs so we usually fit together pretty well.
Charlie
I'd send one but I don't want you to get in trouble.
Charlie
Actually it was a camerawomen on this one. They talk to us before each tune
and get things like the order of solos etc. When she is on I've seen her
move in time to the music in order to co-ordinate her shots so there is a
level of improv. to it
Charlie
Who knows it might have been me it's hard to tell under those circumstances.
They have different sound people a lot so the balances vary. The tone of my
guitar changes from session to session also even though the guitar and amp
are always set the same way.
Charlie
Heh, I just couldnt see you for the first bit of it!
It was great man
Mr.Will
You sounded great. As a pianist and guitar player, I can say that the
blending was not so great particularly at the beginning. he was
stepping all over your sound, or vice versa. In my experience, it is
worth pre-determining who does the obbligatos under the singing so you
don't end up by getting in each other's way. Also, in a video like
that, it really is kind of anti-theatrical to be relying on the
music. It blows the vibe, and I Remember You is not so hard to get
down. Your playing is my favorite part of the video, tho.

There were some clashes here in there on the front but as I mentioned it was
hard to hear the piano in the studio.
I thought that during that time the guitar was being recorded much lower
than it was but that was not the case.
Given that it was one take with no listening to a playback it wasn't too
bad.
