I've started (once again) a search for good lead sheet software for Windows.
I've played with a couple of scoring tools, but I'd appreciate some opinions.
Entering chords seems to be the part that's hard for the software to help with.
Any suggestions?

I've got Finale 2000 which on balance is pretty easy. A friend of mine just got
Sibelius which he raves about - the reviews on this are pretty positive also.

I'm searching for the same software - except for Mac. Any recommendations? Quite
a few that I've investigated don't have a Mac version.

Kevin:

Sibelius is a fine piece of software. It is expensive, and the copy
protection is a real hassle, but it's a great tool for writing and
arranging music.

You can download a free demo version from http://www.sibelius.com.

I have a Mac and use Finale 2000 and previously used Encore....if you plan
to use the program for is to make lead sheets, I'd recommend Encore because
it's cheaper...and it's good for lead sheets and small arrangements.....if
you plan to be writing orchestral scores, I recommend Finale, which makes
some very nice looking lead sheets as well as a whole lot more.....Gama.

I use a program called MusicTime. Formerly by Passport but I think
they were bought by the same outfit that does the GVOX product. MusicTime
is the *baby* version of Encore (I think). It's under $100 and unless
you plan on writing symphonies and need an industrial strength pro
product it's more than adequate for lead sheets. I recently say it at
Fry's Electronics (our local has everything from computers to refrigerators)
for about $49.
