I had found a BX500 on CL in Oregon, but the owner admitted he had had
to send it back to Carvin to have it repaired. Amazing how they can
get something so wrong.
Jack, what else did you get from them that went down the tubes? I know
you've had problems - I'm curious since I've bought two guitars and an
amp (although I unloaded the amp since it wasn't what I needed) and
haven't had problems with the guitars.

sx 200 amp and a holdsworth fatboy
Hi Jack, I've been thinking about getting an sx 100, what problem(s)
did you encounter with the 200? Thanks,
Paul S
But the question is: what's wrong with it? Is the problem in the design?
Construction? Was there a run of bad components from one of their vendors?
no problems with the sx200. I just sounded lousy. Craig Anderton gave
it an amazing review. He said it sounded like a tube amp but even
better. He waxed on and on in what I can only assume was a carvin-
payola-induced stupor about how it was an "idealized" tube amp. He
now runs Harmony-Central. 'Nuff said...
I sold that amp to Jim Roberts for $200. He's the Sergeant Major in
charge of the Army Blues but I digress. He used the amp on several
gigs and hated it so much, he left it on a gig. Just flat out gave up
on the $200 and never wanted to see it again...
The holdsworth was incredibly neck heavy and had dead spots.
Definitely the right question to ask. Unfortunately, no specifics on
the Oregon BX, only that it "malfunctioned" and he had to send it back
to Carvin for repair.
