I joined ASCAP a number of years ago so I could get in on their group
insurance policy. In the last year or so the policy through ASCAP has
been handled by these guys:

Mine are covered by my homeowners' and not scheduled. Make sure you insure for
replacement cost and not actual cash value.

I think that if there is any business use of the equipment it has to
be scheduled or be on a rider/policy separate from the homeowners. A
standard homeowners policy will not cover any item used for business,
stolen at a gig or etc.
I'm an ASCAP member also, but right now all my gear is on a "business
use" type of policy arranged for by the same agent that handles my
homeowners. I just recently did an update matter of fact, taking
pictures, gathering receipts and upping the coverage.

I don't want to argue insurance here, but that's not good advice. Call an
attorney locally or an adjuster and see what they say.

Mark,
I bought a rider policy through my homeowners insurance company. It
was $5 a year for every $1000 of coverage. An example would be if you
were to insure $10,000 it would cost $50 a year. This was based on me
telling the agent that I don't play professionally. There's a
different rate for pros who take their gear out to gigs but I'm not
sure how much more it is.
