curious about whadda y'all think as it relates to his influence on the
"American Musical Sensibility"..did he bring marginal white audiences a bit
closer to jazz?

I thought it was good flick and Jamie Fox was great as Ray. It was a bit
long and a bit melodramatic. But Ray's music and influence are
undeniable. For me, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin may be the two best
singers ever.

You want to hear some great stuff -- get Get Ray's boxed set... I think it's
called The Birth of Soul. Those old sides are really amazing.

Well, the movie brought this white male a hell of lot closer to his
music. I was never a huge fan for whatever reason but the movie, his
music and story just blew me away--as did Jamie Fox. If he doesn't get
at least an Oscar nomination there is no justice. Thanks, Al, for the
tip on the boxed set.
