Playing seated or standing?

I play virtually always standing now since having a shoulder problem which I
traced to my seated playing posture. I did find a solution but it involved
using a guitar strap, so as easy to play standing and now I prefer it. I
feel like I can get more body movement into my playing compared to seated.

So which is it for you? If seated any particular posture, none or a variety?

I tried it, I simply can´t get going seated. I did it for years and
yreas as a classical player but when playing now, in bands, I must stand
up or the music just doesn't start inside.

I find it very difficult to play standing up. I have had to do it in the contemporary groups I occasionally work with, and in those dates I am generally playing a solid body electric. But if I can help it I'll be sitting.

When I play with a combo I almost always stand. With a big band I sit on a
low chair like the horns and on a solo gig I prefer to sit on a stool.

About a year ago I started using a strap when seated, to stop back
pains I was getting. Now I find I sometimes stand up and wander about
while playing, and it's becoming quite natural.

The back thing I assume is due to age as I never had it before. It
seems to happen if I don't keep my back upright/straight when
playing. Same thing happens when I play classical guitar. I used to
use a footstool, but now I use one of those padded leg cushion
things. I think this works because it means you don't have to raise
the left leg compared to the right, and this stops the back twisting.

If I'm playing a bunch of stuff that I'll have to read some of the music (like a long gig of restaurant background music) I sit. If I'm playing some kind of concert and can get by without reading, I stand, especially if I'm the leader. I think it's a big help to stand when I have another 3 or 4 people in the group. It's easier to walk over to them or even turn and look at them for cues, etc.

At home, I sit. With a duet or trio, I sit.
Usually I play with 8 or 20 Musicians. then I stand with a wireless
rig.
When I play bass I go to the back of the room to adjust volume, etc.
So when there are horns I swing too damn hard to sit down. I dance
around.

I was wondering about that. I heard the footstool thing might not be the
best, but also read that having one foot elevated was better if you needed
to be seated for a lengthy time.

I took classical guitar lessons for a few years, and I could never get
comfortable with the footstool. The teachers absolutely insisted on it,
which is one reason I lost enthusiasm for the lessons.

This sounds just like my approach. Especially the turning to bandmates
part; gotta have some eye contact, IMHO.

Funny, when I was a young lad, starting out doing rock covers, I
always stood up to practice (and, of course, to play out). Never
thought to sit back then. Not sure why. (Maybe I wuz practicin' ma
rock mooves! Nah. Never really had any. ;-)

Now I sit pretty much all the time to practice. Not sure why. Lotsa
time spent living-room-watching-TV practicing (admittedly not always
of the highest quality), but I'm even usually sitting down right in
front of my amp when alone in a quiet house. I think that love to hear
the tonality of the amp/guitar combination. However, that's also
probably not good to do because it never really sounds like that at a
gig.

I'm currently working out a way to lay down on stage - utilizing a
queen size bed while playing. Haven't figured how to fly with it
though, to my many fabulous gigs in faraway exotic places.

IIRC that's one of ACDC's Aungus Young's stage moves, but he includes
'walking' so he spins round on his back whilst playing.
