I was just perusing the scratch and dent items at Musician's Friend. A
blemished Epi Elitist Byrdland for $1500. Head's up.

A great guitar at a great price. Musicians Friend says it has a carved
spruce top but the Epiphone site says "solid spruce" , translation;
"pressed solid spruce". Along with a 5 piece neck and ebony fretboard
looks like a winner. This guitar series is made in Japan and they are
absolutely top quality instruments. Don't be put off by the
"blemished" thing either, I bought a blemished Gibson L4 Sunburst from
Zzounds for $2999.00, which is $1,000 savings, and still can't find
the blemish.

I believe I played this guitar a couple of weeks ago. KC has a (the?)
MF clearance center, and I went in there and played an Elitist B'land
and an Epi 175. I was impressed with the B'land and thought the Epi
175 was a pretty good guitar for the money.

Thanks much for the tip...tom walls :)

I got this guitar, and it's a player. The kicker was the mark down to
1530$. The blem will cost about 40$ to fix. The workmanship is so
above my 3 Gibbies at years 1968, 73 and 04. I never would never have
gotten a solid top, but this will be my one and only :)
Nice thing is that the back and sides are laminate, which increases
feedback resistance, and there's less worry about wood cracking in
varying humidity situations. I was looking for a thinner jazz box,
as the 165 is a little thick for the long run.
A real stunner of a looker too :)

Thanks again!
