ok, so I got my twin 8 today. I have been using my Clarus with a polytone 15"
extension cabinet with very good results, but i gave in and thought i'd try the
RE. At first listen, it sounds very, very good. Much better than i would
expect 8" speakers to sound. It produced a full tone without being boomy. i
can see why guys like this cabinet- it has a nice round mid range without
sounding honky. One thing i missed though was a lack of punch that i generally
find in larger speakers. That is the reason i have used 15" speakers for so
long- the larger speaker gives you a "kick in the pants." I'll be doing
further comparisons on the cabinets as i listen more. I think I'll probably
keep the RE, but i'm not sure yet. We'll see how it sounds on the amp stand as
opposed to being on the floor. I originally wanted to use it with the polytone
speaker, i'll probably end up doing just that, btu i need to get another
speaker cable from Acoustic Image to do that. I would imagine both cabinets
will give a real nice big sound.

I'm wondering if you Polytone cab may be more efficient than the RE. I have
no idea, but I don't see why a 15" speaker should have more "kick in the
pants" than the T8. Right now I'm running my Webb combo with its 15" JBL and
using a T8-T as an extension cab. The two speaker complements seem about
equal in efficiency, with neither providing more kick than the other.

When I drive the combo's JBL with the Clarus, then it sounds slightly
brighter than the T8-T driven by the same amp. The T8 has kind of a dark
overall tone, darker than the T8-T or any other RE cab. I'm also thinking
that, perhaps, you're hearing the T8's rolled off highs as reducing its
impact.

No matter what, getting the T8 off the floor will open up its tone. Also, I
ALWAYS think that two cabs sound better than one, assuming your Clarus is up
to the load, or lack thereof.

Best regards,

Dave
