Hi

I see that Musicians friend has a Oscar Schmidt OE40 or is it OE-40,
Hollowbody jazz box guitar for $25, here is thelink

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/search/detail/base_pid/514020/

Am looking for opinions good or bad about this guitar. Am considering
getting it.

Also, does anyone know if it has a set neck?

Thanks
James

Hi James,

I have an earlier very similar model. It was my main jazz guitar for 10
years - before I could afford real wood.

Well.

The downside of this instrument is: don't expect too much dynamics and
detail. However, it's an OK guitar for the money. No quality problems. It's
well built, mine plays allright. Hey, where do oyu get these looks for that
amount of money. Once you hook it up to an amplifier (mine is a poly MBII)
it sounds much better than without.

Hope this helps, if you heave specific questions - go ahead.

Jens

I can't tell you anything at all about these models, but I once played an oscar
schmidt nylon string cutaway. It looked rough but had excellent intonation up
and down the neck, no dead spots and even the electronics weren't horrible.
I'd just bought a guitar or I would have probably picked it up - it was dirt
cheap but I don't remember exactly how much.

LOL - as soon as I saw the $25 in your post I quickly hit the link and
jumped up and pulled out my wallet, waiting for the page to load. That's
when my excitement turned to dismay, when the price is really $250!!!

Me TOO! I would spend the money on a Agile before that one.

I got a superb deal on the jazz type hollow'body "Agile" off eBay
with DeArmond pups in it, & a brand new HSCase for $240.00
and for a lefty it's the best $240 I ever spent without going to the
red'light district in New Orleans 8^)..
datz my 2p cheers thom_j.
p.s. it sounds as good as the Guild X170 I had but its been too
long since I had the Guild to say whether it plays better, or not?

Hi, how can you tell which Agiles have the good pickups. If someone
knows the guitars that do, please drop it in a reply here, as I need
an electric with jazzy and crunchy if needed overtones, TIA, psongman
