John, I have never seen David in concert but I have three of his albums.
The best by far was his first major release "How Did You Find Me Here."
The others are also very good and the latest album has some very honest
and thought provoking lyrics. I wish I was you right now because I would
be lining up for tickets. He was here in Seattle this summer but I was
out of town and missed what was probably a great concert. From looking
at the tuning guide in the this months issue of Acoustic Guitar Wilcox
plays some funked out tunings, even going so far as to use a ultra light
electric guitar string on his high e and using a double wound bass string
to tune down to a low G! He calls this phase two tunings. If you go I
am sure you would enjoy yourself.

Hey Derek!

It is not the same David Wilcox. The Canadian David Wilcox is a
legally blind blues rock guitarist who plays alot of fun party
type songs a la George Thorogood. The song you heard is called
"Layin Pipe" and its not about plumbers!

I have to admit I was confused at first here as well. I couldn't
figure out why the acoustic newsgroup would be interested in an
electric blues guitar player. I'm going to have to go out and get
one of the acoustic David Wilcox' CDs and check him out.

Absolutely! David Wilcox is an extraordinary writer, singer, guitarist,
and performer who will keep you on the edge of your seat - you'll laugh,
you'll cry, and when you see and hear what he does with an acoustic
guitar, you'll find yourself wondering "how does he DO that?" again and
again.

Don't miss him!
