I am looking to purchase an acoustic guitar. Today, I looked at one that
sounded good. It was a Samick Model SW210S for $319. Are these good
guitars and is this a decent price?

Samicks' quality, IMHO, varies wildly. I have seen several Samicks that
I would kill for, and several that I wouldn't use for firewood. Play
them, listen to them, have someone else play them and step back and
listen to them ..... and judge by performance.

At that price range, anything that sounds good to you is probably
buyable. But as you develop as a player, and get the chance to hear and
play quality guitars, you will very likely "outgrow" the Samick. If it
gets you started, it will have served its purpose. Good luck!

I have a Samick SW 220HS which cost $260. I don't know how this differs
from a 210S, though. This thing has a solid top & sealed tuning pegs. I
just got the guy in the shop to play a load of guitars in my price range,
and that one sounded best even to my untrained ears. The problem with
guitars is that they *really* do sound better the more they cost. Funny
that.

I think a $250 to $350 guitar is good for a beginner - then if you do
spend $2000 on a super-exotic model later you'll have a reasonable
knockabout to take to the beach etc. Good Luck.
