Just want to say hello to everyone. This seems like a FINE group.

I play a steel 6-string flamenco style: fingerpicking with my
nails in the usual way, and strumming with the backs of my thumb
and fingernails, and sometimes with the fronts (thumb down,
finger up) for more deliberate strums.

I admire the hell out of good cross-pickers/flat-pickers, but
just don't have the knack.

I like pretty much all kinds of music.

This is where I learned about your group, a little indirectly:

Welcome aboard, Sidney. While it's often fine, after you read RMMGA a
while, you may find it does get coarse sometimes, too. ;-)

Watch for The Gatherings. They're the regional meetings of RMMGAers,
and there is an annual bash in the Pacific Northwest. (along with
Texas, East Coast, UK and more)

So, Wichita Lineman in Flamenco - that would be interesting to hear.

peace and joy,
jbj

Hey! That's really good news. I certainly will.

I recall a festival I attended some years ago.

I found myself with a group of friends, sitting on brown grass,
smoking green grass, and listening to blue grass.

I love hearing players that are better than I am. I get to enjoy
the excellent music and learn something at the same time.

> So, Wichita Lineman in Flamenco - that would be interesting to hear.

I do it for the dancing chicks with the castanets :-))

Ideally, you wouldn't be able to tell, with your ears, that I
wasn't fingerpicking part of the time and playing with a flatpick
the rest of the time.

You might wonder how I ditched the pick and retrieved it so
quickly and often :-)

Music and dance. Peace and joy. I'll buy it.

Hey, levi.

I am moved by the warm welcome, guys. The next time I'm at the
pub, I'll hoist a few to the memory of Bill Chandler. That quote
alone is enough to win _my_ heart. I'm sorry I missed him.

We've had a slot open for a Sidney for a long time.

I wanted to trade a couple of Toms for a Sid, but got shot down.

Hell, there's one Tom I'd trade for some belly button lint.

Welcome, Sidney.

That's what I was fixin' to say, Hank.

Sidney, there was none finer than our recently
departed Bill Chandler.

Welcome Sidney. It is as fine and knowledgeable group of pickers and
strummers as you can find.

Thinking of Bill brings both a tear and a smile.

Oh man! That looks so fine! I've got a camper van
that's completely self-contained for more than 4 days.
With broadband Internet...

I really hope my business Back East doesn't conflict with this.
The timing isn't entirely up to me...

If I can come, I'll bring a quarter cord of good firewood.

And my Love, Stepha. She has a heart of sunshine and would light
up the festivities. Pretty good singer, too.

make it anyway. Commitments...

:-) I guess I knew that, Larry. Because I didn't take any offense.

Besides, it certainly wouldn't be the first time I had discovered
that I was indeed full of s__t.

I don't feel old at all. My woman is young enough to
be my granddaughter. Not because I like young women,
but because I like HER. We do just fine. I'm glad
I'm not young anymore. A lot of it really sucked.
I know what matters, now. Make every day count.
It might be your last. Or, as the Sufis put it:

Look To This Day!

For it is life, the very life of life.
And Today well lived, makes every
yesterday a dream of happiness, and
every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Hunh? What? Couldn't be me! My wife traded me for some medium picks, a set
of light strings, and a hammered dulcimer tuning... well, she tried... they
brought me back a few days ago and told her to keep the payment if she'd
just not sell me again.

Besides pointing out the obvious fact that we are just having fun,
you pompous jerk, "place" has nothing to do with it, because that's
covered by "time". And you left out "how". It's _how_ the chord
is played that is as important as the timing. And it also better
be the _right_ chord.

Like _duh_.
