Good to hear that Bozo is back in business. I got REAL lucky last year
and found a Bozo Dreadnought for $250. Some guy had it on consignment at
the local folklore center. He'd lent it out to a "friend" and got it back
19 years later in *ahem* less than perfect condition (trashed). I
had the top 7 frets replaced and it plays wonderfully well.

Altho mine is plain jane he had a tendency to overdo the decoration
I hope he's sticking more to what counts.

From what I've heard, Bozo doesn't make guitars any more, so it's no use
trying to contact him. However, he left his workshop and his tools to his
son-in-law, and he makes guitars there now. He will also fill any guarantee
repair claims on any of Bozo's guitars.
I have the address at home - will post it tomorrow.

Bozo is now making guitars again - there is a 2 part article starting
with the June issue of Vintage Guitar Mag. It shows him at his workshop
with an instrument in progress. He lives in Southwest Florida now.
Gulfcoast guitars in Englewood FL carries a few of his instruments - be
prepared to pay big$$$ for one. His son builds in CA. I am a guitar
builder and know 2 students of his, Doug Degenhart and Gary Sandstrom,
who currently build acoustics...

If this is true - GREAT. Unfortunately this Vintage Guitar Mag. isn't (to my
knowledge) distributed in Europe, and it's a hassle to try and subscribe to
American mags from here.
But anyway, I said I would post the address, and here it is:
(as published in "Acoustic Guitar", March/April 1993 issue)

Borko Dragojlovic
10126 Carrie Ellen Court,
Santee,
CA 92071

And to get things right: he 's not Bozo's son-in-law, as I mistakenly quoted
from memory, he 's Bozo's godson.
He is said to make guitars identical to what Bozo used to make, except for
the peghead shape. Anyone seen one of his instruments yet ?

A friend had a 6 string built by Bozo in the late 70's. At that time Bozo was
importing and selling a line of all wood Japanese copies of his guitars. I
had heard that because of quality problems he discontinued that project
but a few years later started importing composite bowl back guitars. That
didn't fly either.

Anyway. I have one of the all wood imports I've been thinking about selling.
It was what I think he called the B60 model 12 String. It's has solid rosewood
sides and back, a solid spruce top, herringbone inlay, a clear pickguard.
a bound fingerboard, gold plated hardware and a hard-shell case. It's in
very good to excellent condition with just some slight finish checking. It
plays great and I use it for fingerpicking. One of the things I like about it
for fingerpicking is the typical fast decay I've found even in his handmade
guitars. The price would be $450 plus S/H. If anyone is interested please
email.

I found Bozo's old price list (c1977). His "low-end"

I spoke with Bozo Padunovac last week. From the sound of things, he's
quite busy with guitar-making. A handmade 12 string from the late '70's
with full inlay is selling for $3,600 these days. New guitars are selling
for a little more than that.

If you need to speak with Bozo directly, please email and I'll send you his
phone#. I'd rather not post publicly without asking Bozo first. If you
are looking for Bozo guitars, you can call Gulf Coast Music at
813-474-1214.
