I wouldn't pay £21,474,836 for ANY dread !.

Hmm. Maybe his phone number?

I wouldn't pay 21,474,836 pounds (or even dollars) for anything.
Even in the unlikely event that I ever had that much money.
MJRB
The only thing I could imagine being worth anything like that price
would be a seriously large chunk of Texas real estate.

I have a chum who lives near Liverpool and he sends me Brit car and bike
mags from time to time. It seems our lowly Subaru Forester sells for
roughly the same number of pounds there as we paid in Canuckbucks; very
nearly double the dosh.
Classic bikes there also seem to move for about double the price, although
parts for them seem cheaper than they are here.
It all makes me greatful to my old feller who got us out of Manchester in
1953 to a place where even an itinerant guitar mechanic can afford 54 acres
of insulation between himself and the world-at-large.
As much as a piece of me still belongs to Blighty, I wouldn't give $2
million for half an acre of Cheshire cheese, let alone a postage stamp
sized lot next to the airport. ;-)

Yeah, well, if you want to live in God's own country, you have to pay
God's Own Prices, I guess..:-)
The Cheshire prices are totally skewed by the proximity of four
massive football clubs, and the fact that it's been the home of
extremely wealthy businessmen ever since the Spinning Jenny was
invented. Just across the border in Derbyshire you can still get a
pretty large four-bedroom house for less than250k.

It's always fun spending hypothetical money. :)

a. Land is less expensive here in the places I'd want the land. Quite
near my eldest daughter's place is an enclave where the Jonas Brothers
have bought homes. You couldn't pay me....
b. Don't think I'd care for a piece of Cheshire. After all, when
spending hypothetical money, I've only got to please myself.

That is a blessing, indeed.

Really...who'd want to live near Kevin..:-)
P
Larry,
The Australians use $AUS. At close of play yesterday the $US/$AUS
ratio was not far from parity (you gain a bit). $350 US will buy you
about $380 AUS.
The Sterling/$ does not work in your favour.
$350 = 211.
Pete
In these parts, half of that quarter-million quid would buy you the same
place on ten acres or better, and you could squander the rest on single
malt and singler women.
What am I saying????? Noooo, things are great in Britain. You all
desperately need that invaluable interaction between yourselves and the
incoming hordes. Stay right where you are, diligently saving up for a
litre of petrol. ;-) Tear up the map and fer Chrissakes don't tell anyone
where Canada is.
Must run; have to nip out and pull up the drawbridge.
